After all these years, Alice Cooper is still bringing it.

The shocker rocker extraordinaire delivered a performance Thursday filled with his snake, blood, an electric chair, monsters and a guillotine coupled with classics like “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “I’m Eighteen,” “Feed My Frankenstein,” “Poison,” “School’s Out” and more. He made it a nightmare to remember at the Star Plaza Theatre.

His current tour, Spend the Night with Alice Cooper, runs about an hour and a half and pays homage to some of the musician’s best late rock pals during the Raise the Dead segment, which highlights the work of Keith Moon (“Pinball Wizard”), Jimmy Hendrix (“Fire”), Jim Morrison (“Love Me Two Times”) and David Bowie (“Suffragette City”).

Raised Vincent Furnier in Detroit, Michigan, the son of a Baptist minister, Alice Cooper has made his name as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most prolific showmen entertaining fans for generations with a theater production-like show.

But don’t be fooled, his high energy antics and top-notch band are a force to be reckoned with and much more than just theatrics. Guitarists Nita “The Hurricane” Strauss, Tommy Henriksen, Ryan Roxie and Chuck Garric put on demanding performances night after night. Drummer Glen Sobel’s mesmerizing skills are both breathtaking and inspiring.

Some other highlights of the show were when Cooper was transformed into a 12-foot monster during “Feed My Frankenstein” and when he was beheaded by the ginormous guillotine onstage.

Alice Cooper formed his band in high school and was discovered by Frank Zappa in 1969 and has managed to remain consistently relevant. Most impressive is Cooper has stayed true to his early days of a dark horror themed-show, which has set him apart from any other artists in the business.
