Alice to join KSLX’s Mark Mayfield to benefit St Mary’s Food Bank

Alice will once again join fellow KSLX DJ Mark Mayfield to benefit St Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.  Alice has joined Mark the past several years for on air interviews during Mark’s “bed in”, and will do so again for the 8th Annual Get In Bed With Mark event on Friday, April 11th beginning at 3PM.  Details at kslx.com, and below in the following article which was posted today to arizona.newszap.com.  Click here to View Original Article.

One of the Valley’s best-known radio personalities, KSLX (100.7 FM)’s morning man Mark Mayfield, is preparing to climb back into his Sleep America bed for the Seventh Annual “Get in Bed with Mark” Food Drive, presented by Sleep America, to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.

Over the first seven years, KSLX and Sleep America have raised more than 980,000 meals for the hungry of Arizona, with the 2013 drive collecting a record 230,000 meals.

Mayfield will begin his three-day live marathon 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at the Whole Foods Market in the Town & Country Shopping Center (northeast corner of 20th Street and Highland), which will serve at the flagship location for the entire food drive.

He will literally get into a Sleep America bed aboard a flat-bed truck outside the store, asking Valley listeners to contribute both nonperishable food items and cash donations to St. Mary’s while interviewing celebrities including Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper and spinning classic rock tunes.

For the third straight year, the food drive will expand to several Albertson’s locations around the Valley, with different locations serving as satellite drive sites for food and cash donations.

The following Albertsons markets will serve as collection sites for each day of the drive:

On April 9:
* 16750 West Bell Road, Surprise (8 a.m. to 10 a.m.)
* 4060 West Ray Road, Chandler (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
* 5040 West Cactus Road. Glendale (10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
* 21001 North Tatum Boulevard. Phoenix (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

On April 10:
* 750 East Guadalupe Road, Tempe (8 a.m. to 10 a.m.)
* 2785 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
* 441 N. Val Vista Drive, Mesa (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
* 10665 North Tatum Boulevard, Phoenix (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.)

On April 11:
* 8240 W. Deer Valley Road. Peoria (8 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
* 4747 E. Greenway Road, Phoenix (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

The drive will culminate on Friday, April 11 with fourth annual “Sleep America Great Bed Race” to benefit the Food Bank outside in the Whole Foods parking lot. At the end of the drive, Sleep America President and Spokesperson Debbie Gaby will raffle off the queen-size Kingsdown bed which will have served as Mayfield’s home for three days and more than 50 hours of radio.
